Rotary asks Kaua‘i families to host exchange students
by The Garden Island
For 25 years, the Rotary Clubs of Kaua‘i has been part of a student exchange program in conjunction with Rotary Clubs around the world. This year, the Kaua‘i Rotary Clubs are hosting students from Spain, Chile, China, Norway and Brazil for a full academic year. At the same time, the local Rotary has sent four Kaua‘i students to similar foreign countries.
Rotary is looking for additional host families to share in the program. All students arrive speaking English, are given a $50 a month stipend from Rotary, carry medical insurance and have their own money for personal items. Host families are only responsible for room, board, occasional transportation and aloha. They all attend Kaua‘i public high schools and range in age from 15 to 18.
